Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Kewaunee County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact submission as needed to respond. The message is kept within our organization and is not disclosed outside it unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site's systems automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and common exit points. The reports combine visit data for site analysis. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Detecting and repairing technical problems
- Maintaining reliable and responsive pages
- Understanding which content is useful or needs improvement
- Routing a search request to the selected partner tool
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Kewaunee County Criminal History does not build, hold, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official routes such as sheriff Records & Civil Process, the Wisconsin Circuit Court, the Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, and the Wisconsin Public Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, rather than this one, govern information submitted through those tools. We do not control a partner's retention or disclosure practices. Review the applicable provider policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Kewaunee County sheriff, Wisconsin courts, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy terms control. Read those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across different websites to select ads. That cross-site activity is handled through their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring site traffic and operation
- Outside search providers processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for data in our control. No internet-connected service can promise perfect protection, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or another security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's location and applicable law. Wisconsin's Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. sections 19.31 through 19.39, governs access to government records, while sections 165.83 and 165.84 address criminal-history reporting and dissemination. Those statutes do not turn this private site into a government custodian. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of personal data we control
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
- Request a copy of personal data maintained about the visitor
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. Any new version will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors can review current practices on this page.
